Saltwater Veil

A few days ago we returned to Santa Comba, one of those iconic corners of the Costa Ártabra, hoping that low tide and an unsettled summer sky would give us something interesting to work with.
Laura spotted the potential of this scene first and called me over to take a look. There was definitely a photograph hidden among those rocks. Once I found the composition I wanted, there was only one thing left to do: wait for the right wave.
I wanted a wave strong enough to surround the foreground rocks, fill the scene with movement and, if everything aligned, spill over the rock on the right like a tiny saltwater waterfall.
Eventually, the Atlantic delivered.
For a brief moment, the rocks were wrapped in white water while the wave poured towards me, leading the eye through the narrow opening towards the sea stack beyond. Above it, heavy storm clouds dominated the sky, with just a thin strip of warm sunset light breaking through near the horizon.
Not the clear sunset I might have wished for — but definitely a much more dramatic one.
