I gave an excellent because it evokes strong emotion. I am sure the technocrats will have things to say because it doesn't 'follow the rules' but there aren't any. This photo makes me feel incredibly sad from the moment I saw it. The fact it is in a zoo doesn't come into it. It is the way this is lit, the fact one can't see the eyes and expression all are a part of why this is excellent. Re editing this they way the technocrats would suggest would completely remove all feeling and one would be left with a bog standard photo of an elephant.
