Apple Uses Carl Sagan's Narration in Their New Earth Video Campaign

You can't go wrong with the narration of Carl Sagan or Alan Watts when it comes to making a video and showing scenes of the great places such mountain ranges, lakes, beaches, and landscapes we have on this planet. Apple took it upon themselves to use this narration in their latest ad campaign. I am impressed with the quality of the footage. The color, the slow motion shots, and to a degree the dynamic range which handled the situations very well.

Apple has been focused on making the production of their products as sustainable as possible, and have been very vocal on political decisions that they found wasn't positive for the future generations. It's beautiful scenery, yet Carl Sagan's statement is not one of happiness, but rather of fragility and carelessness that affects the future of the only place we know to harbor life.

I liked this contrast and the execution. It's a statement about our lives here on the globe, and how we can all create what we believe can affect the people who see it in a good way. Apple democratized the video industry and gave everyone access to capture and share the way they see the world. We really have the world at our fingertips and can capture and make whatever we want, we just need to get out there and do it.

Keep it up, Apple!

Does no one remember that Carl Sagan sued Apple after he had 1) complained that the then-computer-manufacturer had used his name as a code name for an upcoming product, and that 2) the suit was lodged only after Apple ceased calling it that and replaced the code name with "BHA," which was said to have stood for either "Butthole Astronomer" or "Butthead Astronomer?" How old are you people? This was only 23 years ago. Oh, I see.

Just googled it there myself, thanks for the info. Just makes me hate Apple that little bit more!

Suing over a internal code name? That's just pathetic. BHA sounds about right.

The message works for me...
