Rejuvenate

I took this landscape photograph during a family camping trip to the Canadian Rockies in northern Alberta in the summer of 2019. We were headed to British Columbia but had decided to spend a couple of days in Jasper National Park. What we didn't bargain for was the rain. It rained the entire first day that we were there. We decided to make the best of it and take a drive out to Maligne Lake.

On the drive we stopped several times with one stop at the mountains around Medicine Lake. As soon as we stopped I saw that the forest around had been burned. That and the heavy low cloud moving just above us sparked an idea for an image in my mind. I pulled out my camera but couldn't execute exactly what I had in mind. We decided to keep moving along.

However, on the way back I saw that the clouds were much lower in the area that I wanted to photograph. As we got closer I saw that this image could happen, pulled over and pulled out my Tamron 70-200 and grabbed this photograph. I really enjoy the painterly feeling of this photo and is one of my favourite images of 2019.
