A Midnight Sea

What do dolphins do at night? Each night, an already dark sea turns black as the sun slides below the horizon. Suspended in the expanse as if floating in space, I imagine dolphins gliding silently in the night. When darkness falls, creatures from the ocean’s deep scattering layer rise to the surface to feed. Small schools of squid and fish arrive to feast on plankton. Soon after, the common dolphins are on the hunt.
