The largest animal on earth is easily concealed by a vast ocean - until it rises to take a breath! The blow or exhale of a whale can rise nearly two stories above the surface of the water and can be seen from several miles away with the naked eye. Blue whales have been my favorite cetacean to photograph over the years. These large and graceful giants surface for mere minutes before disappearing in the the depths. Leaving me in awe each and every time.
I understand drone photos of wildlife can be controversial. When flown at higher elevations, baleen whales have not shown signs of disturbance or changes in behavior in response to small drones. I am a FAA Part 107 pilot with over 5 years of experience working with whales professionally and observing their behavior.
