The Dark Chanting Goshawk is a medium sized raptor with an unusual stocky, upright stance. The head, breast and upperparts are dark grey, while the cere and legs are bright orange-red. The upright stance and horizontally striped midsection gives the bird a very formal appearance, almost like its wearing a vest.
I took the image with a Canon EOS R6 with an EF 200-400 mm f/4L IS USM extender lens. The exposure settings were 1/1250 sec at f/5.6, ISO 1000, 560 mm. The image was taken on November 4, 2022.
