The Badlands NP SD
I had taken a walk to relax at the day's end; the sun had lost most of its heat of the day while a chill began to claim the evening's entrance.
Because of the day-long shoot, I was exhausted from the heat. Instead, I wanted to be lazy and drink in the cool air on my skin.
I was making no effort other than just looking and absorbing what was around me. To observe the subtle color changes that come with the ending of a day. To watch shadows soften the edges of the rocks that seemed so sharp and forbidden throughout the day.
It was the time of day that I would recognize as evening's soft step—a prelude before night.
