Zion NP UT
Zion NP is one of my favorite of many locations and parks. What I love about it is the rock formations' shape, textures, and patterns. I was looking upward and trying to deal with the scale of the place.
High above me were these birds, no effort sweeping along the thermals, taking them up and away. I first tried to recognize what birds they were. I first thought they were ravens because of the lack of depth to judge how high these birds were flying. After all, they are sizablely larger than crows. Besides, crows don't catch thermals. Ravens? No, they don't catch thermals, either. Ahhh. Vultures. I am very familiar with vultures in middle Tennessee, and these were not vultures.
Then I realized that these were the big boys of the neighborhood. The big boys I have never seen in the wild. These were Condors. Condors live here. I finally found a place where Condors roost. And, no. No, I did not photograph the condors. I didn't have the lens to do so. At least for the first time, I saw them, I was okay with just seeing them glide effortlessly high above the sky.
