After years of planning, permitting, pandemic, transportation of equipment, construction and implementation, the first wind energy project on the California Coast is now online. Known as the Strauss Wind Energy Project, it consists of 27 modern wind turbine generators, each standing at nearly 500 feet tall (152.4 meters), and with 3-220 foot-long blades (67.06 meters). The facility has the capacity to generate 95 megawatts of electricity, or enough for 36,000 homes. (Credit noozhawk.com)
I happened upon this image by accident. I had been to the nearby estuary for some birding. On my trip home I spied some things I thought I'd like to capture and pulled off the road to photograph. The fog was starting to clear and this behemoth was appearing and disappearing over the hillside. This image was my favorite.
Love it.
Thank You Edwin!
