Death Valley / A Wash With Flowers

If this image has you thinking of a carpet of flowers you are very close. In the southwestern deserts where these flowers bloom their common name is Purple Mat. During wet fall and winter months they bloom in these huge patches covering wash bottoms and other water courses. In less exceptional rain events you will still find these flowers although more widely scatter individual specimens.
