If you’ve been to Death Valley you more than likely you have visited Zabriskie Point. If you’re a photographer this is possible the most popular location at dawn, mostly due to its proximity to the hub of visitation, especially considering the hour. Just over a mile from accommodations on the valley floor and a half miles from the Furnace Creek Inn. Now I don’t want to say it’s crowded but most mornings you will probably have difficultly finding a parking spot. But almost like clockwork within half to three quarter of an hour after sunrise it becomes more of a ghost town Death Valley is know for.
I made this image no more than a half hour after the peak of visitor head on to their next destinations (breakfast). In the winter the peak light here is not sunrise but more so somewhere between early to mid morning.
Wow Paul! I've stood right there last year. I haven't decided whether I like mine. Did you imagine an early settler gazing at that scene in the 1860s or 1870s? I love the shadow in the crevice.
Was that you? I'll say hello next time ;)
