Sunset On The Vermilion Cliffs

I haven’t intended to photograph a sunset (or anything else specific for that matter) since my early days of learning photography. This as with many of my “sunset” images are due to just being there. Over the years I have found a greater success rate to just being there and prepared, rather than going to a specific location and waiting for a sunset. Sure it’s a given the sun is going to set. But how spectacular will a sunset be on any given day? It’s a crap shoot! Sure either method has its rate of success depending upon frequency you apply it. The difference being is the workup and and letdowns I found location shooting with intention of a sunset shoot yields either disappointments of inferior imagines or none at all. Sunsets have never been high on my image list unless the are truly spectacular.
