Photography as Art

Lake Mattamuskeet - my favorite spot. This tree line is so photogenic. Catching mornings like this one does not happen often. Mattamuskeet is located on North Carolinas Inner Banks coastline. With the lake being so close to the coast it is rare to find this spot without wind. My preferred formula is the absence of wind and light upper layer clouds for sunrises. This day the clouds stayed off in the distance but the wind predictions came true. It’s an experience being here and watching the sky go from bright stars to twilight, blue hour and then sunrise. I am a strong believer that if you put the time in, put the time in properly. I show up way before most are willing and the effort is well worth it. It’s more than just photos, it’s the experience.
