When you get in the video world, you soon realize that editing can go pretty far, but it’s not as easy as Photoshop. It tends to take more time to get to a decent result, and a tremendous patience to achieve perfection. In this short tutorial, Steve from MiesnerMedia shows us how to smooth out skin in our videos using DaVinci Resolve 14.
Cleaning up skin when editing video is a much longer process than it is using Photoshop for still images. Or at least, that is if you want to achieve a perfect result. However, if your goal is simply to smooth out skin to make it look a bit nicer but not pristine for a beauty shoot, the technique shown in the tutorial above will probably please you.
Using just a couple of nodes and masking methods, Steve is able to make the midtones more uniform only on the skin. This is great if you shoot videos and footage that aren’t close-ups or that require a fast turnaround with minimal editing. I’m sure many beauty vloggers would appreciate this technique, especially knowing that DaVinci Resolve 14 is free and no plugin is required. Some plugins will make the process easier and faster, but let’s talk about this in a future article.
Quite nice results, It made me thinking about my current Photoshop workflow. Thanks for sharing!
