While an f/11 maximum aperture might cause some photographers to shy away from the lens, it is an appealing option for anyone who wants to explore extreme focal lengths without breaking the bank. And for more experienced photographers, its low price and portability make it the type of lens you can drop in your bag for occasional shots that demand it. And with the high-ISO and autofocus capabilities of modern bodies, that narrow fixed aperture is not as much of a problem as it might have been previously. While it certainly won't compete with the image quality of more expensive lenses, it is nonetheless a great option for a lot of photographers. Great review. I have the 800mm f11 with my R5. I agree with most of the comments. The lens is not perfect, but great to have an $900 light weight 800mm option. I think the hardest part using the lens is trying to capture BIF with the smaller focus area. Maybe with practices I will get better. For standard wildlife images I enjoy the lens.
