A Look at the New Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II Lens

Sony's latest lens, the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II, is here, and it brings with it a ton of improvements over the original, making it an intriguing option for a wide range of applications, from wedding shooters to bird photographers and more. This excellent video review takes a first look at the new lens and the sort of image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice. 

Coming to you from Julia Trotti, this great video review takes a look at the new Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II lens. 30% lighter than the original version, this new lens is easier to handle while still offering a range of useful features, including:

  • Two extra-low dispersion elements and two Super ED elements for reduced chromatic aberrations and increased clarity 
  • Nano AR Coating II for reduced flares and ghosting and increased contrast
  • Four XD linear motors for fast and precise autofocus, with reduced focus breathing and zoom shifting 
  • Optical Steady Shot image stabilization with three modes suitable for different applications ranging from general shooting, to panning and maintaining a stable frame when photographing moving subjects
  • Three programmable focus control buttons
  • Focus range limiter
  • Fluorine coating 
  • Dust- and moisture-resistance
