Is This the Ultimate Bokeh Lens for Medium Format Mirrorless Cameras?

While apertures like f/1.4 are totally normal for full frame and APS-C cameras, they are almost unheard of in medium format, where most lenses open as wide as f/4 or maybe f/2.8. And so, that makes the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4 quite the intriguing lens right off the bat. Add in its very affordable price, and it becomes an option almost every Fujifilm GFX user should at least take a look at. This great video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in usage.

Coming to you from Kyle McDougall, this excellent video review takes a look at the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4 lens for Fujifilm GFX medium format cameras. At just $599, the 65mm f/1.4 is highly affordable, particularly by medium format standards. Perhaps the main drawback of this is a lack of autofocus, which is something to consider depending on what you shoot, but for slow and deliberate portrait work, this normally is not an issue, particularly with the manual focal aids of modern mirrorless cameras. I have to admit that I was rather impressed by the images that came from the lens considering its price. Of course, you should not expect top-shelf sharpness comparable to the best first-party lenses, but what you do get certainly punches above the lens' weight. Check out the video above for the full rundown from McDougall.
