Whether you’re a first-time user or a long-time user of Final Cut Pro X, shortcuts will make any project a lot easier. Make sure you know these nine tips to blaze through your edits.
In this video, Matthew O’Brien of Midland Pictures is going to help us out with a number of non-obvious shortcuts that make editing video inside Final Cut Pro X both easier and faster. One of the hardest steps to learning new shortcuts that can help with your workflow is that it’s difficult to assume where an undiscovered shortcut would exist in the first place. In other words, you don’t know until you know.
For example, did you know you can completely circumvent digging in the Titles tab when you want to drop in the ubiquitous Basic Title? Did you know you can change the speed of a clip without changing its length on the timeline? Did you know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
I highly recommend watching this lesson to learn which stress areas of editing with Final Cut Pro X can be alleviated with a little shortcut magic. Actually memorizing the shortcut keys, of course, can come later.
