Michael Schmidt Reviews the Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

Michael Schmidt of Chemnitz, Germany, shares a video review of Canon's new and quite affordable EF-S 10-18mm IS STM lens. The lens features silent focusing thanks to its stepping motor (STM) and even throws in built-in image stabilization (IS). While the lens exhibits some minor issues (some expected distortion seems quite controlled for this focal length), overall image quality seems fantastic and the lens' focusing motor is truly silent and smooth. This is unlike some of the first STM lenses that I tested myself when they came out. All this with a price tag of $300...this could easily be your best-value walk-about lens for video.

Since improved c/a correction in Lightroom and many good film presets available it makes sense to switch for cheaper plastic lenses.

Hi,I am contemplating to purchasing this newly launched wide angle 10-18 STM Lens. But I have a strong doubt in my mind.
Does this lens fully autofocus with Canon 550D???
I mean,is it fully compatible with my 550D/T2i???
Please help.
Thanks in advance and regards.

While there could be differences in the future (never say never), any lens that works with any Canon DSLR will work with all other Canon DSLRs (to the best of my knowledge). You can rest assured that any company that makes an AF lens for Canon will make sure it works with every Canon AF camera -- especially if that company is Canon...

Thanks a lot Adam for clearing my doubts.
It helps me lot.
