Filmmaking is a complicated thing, and it takes the confluence of a lot of factors to create a successful final product. If you are interested in filmmaking, this great video features a music video director discussing his experience in shooting his first short film.
Coming to you from Chrystopher Rhodes of YCImaging, this excellent video features him discussing what it was like to shoot his first short film. One thing I noticed was that Rhodes was careful to not overcomplicate things both from a technical and creative standpoint. It can certainly be easy to overdo things, especially the first time around. After all, it is exciting to have control, and it is tempting to try to put in as much as you can to show off your technical and creative prowess, but you can end up overwhelming the viewer rather easily. Generally, it is good to err on the side of simplicity. Check out the video above to hear what Rhodes' experience was like!
