Offering next-level follow filming, the Ghost Drone can automatically follow you and be controlled via smartphone. Recently, professional kiteboarders Jullien Fillion and Jason Slezak put the device to the test by having it follow them on foilboards over the clear blue waters of Maui.
It is fascinating to observe the progression of technology breakthroughs and usage of drones. Even with all the controversy and pending laws afloat, aerial videography via drones seem to be pushing forward in so many different arenas. Recently we featured an article that discussed Droneboning (NSFW), where a drone is used to film pornography. What will they think of next?
This video features so much technology that was unheard of just a few short years ago. From the high-tech design of the sport itself and the equipment featured, to the gear that it is being filmed on, next-level self-filming in sports is getting more advanced since the concept of personal cameras first graced the scene in 2002.

I'd be a little concerned about my drone flying itself into a fixed object while filming, but that concern aside, this is pretty cool technology for filming yourself in open spaces.
ain't that the truth! Between the kites and the water there's def a lot of consequence in this vid. Can't wait to see how people start to use these.
cool post, thanks for sharing
been kiting since 2000 and I can't wait to try this for sure ;)
nice man! I'm stoked on the LF foil and solo kite in this vid too, haha.
go surfing strapless, that's the best ;)
Forget the entire aspect of the drone.. what in the heck is foil boarding this looks awesome
Airdog
Very interesting indeed. Auto-follow features will become BIG. I just bought a Phantom 2 and I am hoping for some firmware updates in this direction (auto-follow modes, programmable angles, etc)... Many other companies such as Hexo+, 3D Iris+, Airdog to name a few, are promising such features but they are fresh out of Kick-starter and haven't proven their designs with a broad range of users yet.
