How to Create One of the Most Fundamental Lighting Styles With Just One Light

When you're new to lighting, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to understand how to control multiple lights with the precision needed to create a polished photograph. This quick and great video will show you how to create a classic look using just one light.

Coming to you from Aputure, this helpful video will show you the history of Rembrandt lighting and why it's so important, as well as how to create it yourself. Rembrandt lighting is by far one of the most common looks you'll see in both still photography and video, and it's a great style for beginners to try, as it only requires one light source. I personally recommend mastering such single-light looks before moving on to more intricate and complex setups, as you can learn quite a bit about things like positioning and falloff that'll help you tackle the more involved lighting designs down the road. And Rembrandt is still a highly popular look that you don't necessarily need to add more lights to to create a compelling image. Check out the video above for the full rundown, and take some time this weekend to try it out for yourself.

What if I tell you that the triangle of “light” symbolizes a tear; his pain, suffering and solitude engraved in all his art. A clever and very artistic way to portrait his pain.

Like this post, taking a Sabbath from shooting for 3 months. Inspired me. I have hit a dead spot shooting. So, laying it all down. Pruning I am told is healthy, to give growth in my valley of indecision. Fstoppers and other sites I will following looking for new directions as the excess is pruned away.
