We were traveling to Toroweap from Zion NP at night and were unaware the the park closes the gate at sunset to car traffic approximately 7 miles from the overlook. We had planned on shooting sunrise but the gate would open too late to allow us the opportunity. It was just past midnight when we decided that hiking in was our only option. We got approximately two hours of shuteye before awakening for this spectacular show!
