Nope! I’m assuming you shot this with a 500mm lense, because that is about how close I’d like to be to this subject. 😉

Nope. It was taken with a 150mm macro. :).
These are possibly the biggest spider in the world and have been known to take even small birds. But probably harmless if nothing is hitting the web to signal it might have something to go for. I had the same worries with the first one of these guys but decided a few days later to get them in better light and closer. :)

It’s an exceptional(if not horrifying) image. I’m hesitant to give it too high of a star rating however, because the stipulation of this contest was to have unique or exceptional color grading. This appears very true to reality. Which is fantastic on its own, just didn’t seem to fit the competition.

No worries. It is all for fun anyway.

Color grading here?

Generally I like to keep wildlife within the realms of reality. Typically I look at only the colours of the object and apply a subtle bit of grading to make the prominent colours pop a bit. Here is would have been the yellows and reds/orange. In my opinion the overall background colours were already quite well matched and did not need any more work. Hope this makes sense. Cheers and have a great day.

I gave both of your pictures five stars. It feels good to see such a skilled photographer's work. Continue in the same style!
Kind regards from Finland
Carl

Thanks Carl. Much appreciated the kind words. Wildlife stuff is a test of patience. :)
