My girlfriend and I were walking around Lake Piru, CA just enjoying the day and I was taking a few random photos... I was facing the opposite direction when my girlfriend yelled "Look..." and pointed toward the vultures. I turned quickly and took the shot as fast as I could and as soon as I hit the shutter, the vultures flew away. Shot with the Canon 5DS and the Sigma 150-600 Sport lens @600mm. Settings: f7.1, 1/1,000, ISO 500. I did the B&W conversion using Silver Effects Pro. Although I like the color version, my feeling is the color photo is a nice picture of birds. Whereas the B&W is a more compelling picture of life. There is death, love, bonding, friendship, cruelty and tenderness. You don't often catch this aspect in carrion fowl.
