We were photographing a cheetah mother and her two cubs in Masai Mara, Kenya. Cheetahs tend to climb to higher places to use as vantage points to scan for prey and other predators. In this instance, the only available vantage point was another safari vehicle parked close by. So, the mother climbed up and sat on top of the vehicle.
We quickly re-positioned our vehicle so that the setting sun was behind the cheetah. I waited until the cheetah got up, so that I could get the perfect silhouette. One of the cubs is sitting in front of the vehicle, looking at the sunset.
