I shot this in April while some friends from SMPD's Mounted Unit were taking a group photo with the Chief and another photographer. The officer pictured here asked me to take some individual shots of her with her horse, Laredo.
We didn't have a lot of time, so I set up a Kate foldable backdrop behind her and the horse, with the sun behind the backdrop to make the lighter colors stand out more. I then used a Godox V1 flash and a Phottix Raja 85cm Octagonal softbox to add light to her and the horse.
Camera used was a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 85mm f/2.8 lens. Shutter speed was at 1/160, ISO 100, and f-stop at f5.
It's not only the best image I shot all year, I'd say it's probably my favorite photo I've taken over the past 30 years.
Nice to see a relaxed horse. Many people want to see an alert expression and ears up. Beautiful lighting and colours.
