A baby barred owl peers from a hollow tree as the parents are off hunting. Shot with a Canon 5D Mark IV with a Canon EF 100-400 lens in Winston-Salem, NC. For the past couple of springs, I have walked the large, wooded park near my home in search of owl nests. This past April, there was just one owlet in the tree cavity. I shot from a distance away to avoid scaring the owls. The photo was cropped, the background blurred, and tree and owl lightened.
