"Grizzled Grit" - Yellowstone National Park
This very brief and awe-inspiring photo captures the moment immediately after this boar Grizzly Bear fell through the ice and was hauling his massive body out of the freezing water. This was an especially unique and rare scene because the reason this grizzly was down on such thin ice is he had hauled the carcass of a bison out of the water, which had met a similar but less fortunate fate in that exact spot earlier in the winter. If you look closely at the left side of the frame, you can see a portion of the jaw bone and exposed flesh floating in the water where this grizzly had been consuming large portions for the previous several days. Everything about this scene was an incredible to be lucky enough to witness.
