The picture "Happy New Year" was taken in Aachen, Germany on 1 January 2007.
It was taken with a Sony DSC-W1 5 megapixel digital compact camera.
For this shot I placed the camera on a tripod, pre-focussed the background, activated the first built-in flash and set a self-timer. To capture the fireworks, the exposure was set to 30 seconds. The flash helped to fix the image of the person who was only in front of the camera for the first few seconds.
Post-processing in Lightroom included converting the image to black and white, brightening, sharpening and adding clarity to the overall image. The brightening process brought out some unwanted noise. The next step was to remove it using Topaz AI.
Today I shoot mostly with analogue Leicas and Fujifilm X bodies.
