This photo was taken way back in 1981 or 1982 out in the Indian Ocean on a Canon AE-1. I had a Leica Telephoto lens that I had picked up in Singapore in 1980. Back then, don't even ask me what F/stop - ISO meant...I had a camera, bought film, liked certain film with decent ISO and shot photos. A lot were blurry, a few turned out, and I was happy with what I got.
This photo shows a CH-46 picking up supplies to transfer to a ship we were replenishing, this is known as Vert-Rep (Vertical Replenishment). Ships would sit along side and receive stores and fuel from the supply ship.
This photo was cleaned up a bit, not much using Lightroom Classic.
Today, I started with a Canon 80D, Tamron 70-200 mm lens, 2x doubler. I have upgraded to a Canon R5, Canon 24-105 mm lens, and a Canon 200-800 mm lens.
I dig it. Vintage military photograpy is my favorite genre. Only critique is I would like to see more of the back of the bird and both rotors. But working in military conditions often limits where you can shoot from, and you've got to work with what you've got.
Thanks Jake! I know, I like that photo and wished that I could have had the rotors in it...I wasn't able back then able to get the entire helo into the photo OR I would have....
