I shot this on my Nikon D800, and 24-70mm lens in 2016. I now shoot on Mirrorless Nikon and film cameras but still love my Nikon D800.

I took this photo during a family portrait session. A lot of times kids would be extremely antsy and hate the idea of sitting and smiling for 45 minutes. I started having kids run around and be free. This produced some of my favorite, purely joyful images. I love this image because even though I took it almost 10 years ago, I can still hear her laughter and joy, her fast foot steps in the grass. The clouds look interesting and the black and white edit leaves the photo up for interpretation- is she running in glee, completely free? Or is she running away from something? Maybe it's a little of both.
