"Two Indias, Farewell Mumbai - 2023"

We were about to have lunch in this place called "Poetry" in Mumbai. My friends were already looking for a table inside when I noticed this kid looking through the glass. I had seen him many times before in that area and once he asked me to buy a balloon from him. I got a couple of them for my ex girlfriend back then. This photo was taken on the very day my ex was flying to New York for her studies. The boy's gaze isn't just for hunger or lust or a cry for a better life and the glass isn't just a divide between the two, very different classes that coexist. It's a portrait which tells all of it, and a very personal photograph that captures my own emotion on that day, of loosing the one I loved, as if I'm looking through the glass and maybe one day, I might also go to New York.
