I was trekking with a guide in the wilderness of Mount Abu (Rajasthan, India) in search of the remnants of ancient tīrthas (pilgrimage sites, cultic places) described in the Sanskrit Arbuda Māhātmya (a kind of traditional pilgrimage guidebook), when we ran across this tribal woman and her husband tending buffalos in the jungle. She offered to make me tea. His husband brought some freshly milked buffalo milk, which she poured into a tin pot adding tea leaves and spices, and then set to boil in the fireplace of her mud hut. The tea was excellent!
