"Contemplation"
Environmental Portrait
Waiting in line for dinner at Diamond Lake Resort in Oregon it was about 33°F (1°C). I was admiring the mist rising from the lake, as the fog was lowering when it suddenly started to snow. My wife looks at me and said, "Go. Just go."
I put the camera on my tripod lower to the ground, framed the shot, set the 10-second timer, and scurried to the bench.
I wanted to keep the composition simple, the scene serene, and the space balance, so I kept editing to a minimum. I chose a shallow depth of field to isolate the background lake, mountain and sky for a feel of tranquility.
Luckily the snow was very light and fluffy so the front of the lens didn't gather flakes thus keeping the challenge minimal.
