When I was first learning how to use my Nikon D90, I was able to get this photo of my grandmother reading in front of the fireplace. The original photo includes the fireplace with blazing fire in the frame, but I decided to crop it while re-editing it in Luminar Neo. Also converted it to black & white. Most of the light source came from a window to the left. Fortunately the document my grandmother was reading provided a bounce light for her face. The fire also provided some ambient lighting.
This is more of a family memento than a professional art piece, but it's one of the few portrait photos I've ever taken. I mostly shoot landscape, wildlife, and some product photography.
Since I was still learing how to use my camera at the time this was taken and I also didn't have any editing software that supported the RAW file format, I only shot this in jpg.
Photo was taken in 2014
I really like this. The composition makes me think about classic paintings for some reason.
A very good image of granny. Possibly improved by a crop halfway from her head to the edge and down thru' the book 2nd left.
