This picture is taken in a small studio, just one softbox. The model is the owner of the studio and we were just trying different light and poses. I like the one light approuch, it creates an intemate atmosphere. In this image I asked the model to show dispair and it resonates these worrying times.

Great storyteller image!
Thanks a lot Sal
My perennial comment - a tighter crop. Nice shot.
Nice portrait. I will disagree with the one commenter who suggested a tighter crop. Nay says I, cropping loosely gives the subject room to move. In a full length portrait they need room on the edges. The lone exception is when I used to do military "frisket photographs where the subject had to be in perfect uniform and at attention. I think this image is profoundly evocative.
The crop is debatable but I left the space to create an atmosphere where he is a bit lost which adds to the feeling. Thanks for the nice comment Nathan.
100% agree. And on that topic, I really dislike unsolicited critiques. What they always feel like to me is that someone else is trying to make me, or you, be like them. And, like I said, I think your sense of space is about right. And that also, BTW, is the danger of contests such as this.
