I made this portrait of my brother in 2015 as part of a personal project documenting my generation of Pacific Islanders in Aotearoa New Zealand. He's a former rugby player, and I wanted to capture his athleticism and the sense of humour he's known for. I shot it in a friend's studio with one very old Hensel 1000w strobe at half power and a medium-sized softbox mounted high and roughly 45 degrees and 2 meters to his right.
