This image was made on assignment for a local newspaper. Jorge Valls was one of three Cuban poets I was covering for this article. The shot was taken in his home next to a mirror in his living room. Using the natural light streaming in from a bay window in the dining room to his left, I placed a large reflector to my left to fill in the shaded side of his face and made the image on Kodak Tri-X film in my Nikon F3 camera with a Nikkor 43-86, f3.5 zoom lens.
