Another snapshot with terrible cropping. You cut her head off and part of his hands. You really have to work on your compositions.
Calling something terrible without an explanation is no better than casting a (1) or (2) vote without an explanation... and you've made your opinion known on that. You merely point out what is clearly plain to see. So explain why cropping part of her head and his fingers is so bad.
Generally speaking, the idea of a tight crop is to keep the viewer's eye from wandering into distracting elements at the outer edges of the frame. The more of the frame allocated to non-essential peripheral elements, the further away the main subject appears, and less intimate the picture feels.
I pretty much like the crop as is... it certainly isn't terrible. If anything I'd crop just a little more. Such as... a slight amount off the left side, to the point of the left edge of his black shoulder strap. There's some bright stuff in the lower left background and brightness on his shoulder at the edge of the frame that, if eliminated by a small amount of additional cropping, would keep the viewers attention in the center of the photo. And.. if you wanted to create some symmetry in the image, you could crop a small amount off the right side as well... just to the point of her black backpack strap. That way, the edges of both people's backpacks are at the edge of the frame.
I think it's perfectly fine to crop off part of the woman's head... keep in mind that if the photo had extended above her head, you potentially bring some other background stuff into the frame that you don't want. I'd like to assume the photographer considered the options and chose this crop for a reason. That said, I wouldn't mind just another inch of her forehead showing... her eyes feel just a tiny bit pinched. But this is better, as is, than if there were a lot more background just for the sake of showing her whole head.
