Lighting: 600ws strobe in the hallway, firing through a frosted glass bathroom door to diffuse and soften the light

Shot: 30mm, f/4, 1/200 sec, ISO 200. I'm standing on the edge of the tub holding the camera out. If I do this again I'll mount the camera on a C-stand and fire it remotely.

Editing: the dress was green in real life, I made it red. I also edited out my feet.

Love the setup and the colours but the expression lets the photo down in my opinion.

If there's some symbolic or conceptual message in this picture, I sure don't get it. I mean there can be strange and unconventional combinations of elements in a photo and consider it art, but I can't understand the reason for a woman lying in a bathtub full of blue water with her clothes on, and water shooting from a faucet... other than making the claim that it's never been done before.

Deriving meaning from art is up to you as the viewer, and if you don't get it I'm not going to dictate to you how to think about it.

But here are some questions that might guide your thoughts:

-Who is the woman? What socioeconomic class is she in? How old is she and what does her daily routine likely look like? Does she generally take pride in her appearance and surroundings, or is she disheveled and uncaring? Is she well put together, fashionable, made up?

-What do the woman's facial expression and posture reflect? Happiness? Joy? Misery? Melancholy? Resignation? Ennui? Is she smiling? Frowning? Simply staring off blankly?

-How clean is the bathroom? The tub is white - is it stained, dirty, ignored? What themes are associated with white?

-She's in water. What does water do and represent?

-The water is blue. What emotions and themes does blue represent?

-Her dress is red. What emotions and themes does red represent?

-Is she underwater yet? Does she seem to care about the water level?

-The faucet is on. What happens if the faucet continues to run? Does the woman seem concerned about the faucet? Does she seem to want to turn it off?
