This image of a bumblebee flying through a cherry tree was taken with an OM System (formerly Olympus) OM-1 (20MP micro 4/3 sensor) and an M.Zuiko 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS at 1/3200s, f/6.3, ISO 1250, and 400mm handheld. This shot was made possible by the following camera features: pre-capture with silent shutter at 25fps; AI bird detection AF (which sometimes works with flying insects); and an 800mm full frame equivalent focal length. Topaz Photo AI was used for some minor denoising and sharpening. I spent quite a few hours walking around this tree in my yard and this is one of my favorite images I got. I mostly went where the bees were and I just happened to notice this lovely composition as I was reviewing all the shots. I also love the small bit of pollen you can see falling from the bee. I used the camera's joystick to move around a small focus zone throughout the shoot but the AI bird detect sometimes kicked in and helped me get some really in focus shots like this one.
