This shot was taken in the Grand Tetons last November using the Canon EOS R5 C and a 70-200mm RF lens. It was the only animal we saw during the trip, likely because it was the start of the winter season and most of the ground was already covered in snow. On our way back from the park, we spotted this fox in the middle of a farm field, hunting for food. We were easily a few hundred feet away when we first saw it and ended up watching it for about 20 minutes as it gradually moved closer.

The image was captured at 200mm, 1/8000 sec, and f/3.2. Out of around 100 shots I took, this was the only one where I caught the fox mid-air, with a clean profile and its eye perfectly in focus. I had to zoom in nearly 300% to fill the frame, and thanks to the camera's incredible resolution, fast shutter speed, and autofocus, I was able to capture one of my favorite images of all time.

Edited in Lightroom. PS: I'm color blind—so if the colors are a little off, that’s why 😅
