Using a 100-400 mm lens on a mirrorless Canon R7 eye detection was used for focus and the high speed frame rate was used to capture multiple frames during the pitcher’s delivery. The pictures were then loaded into Lightroom following which the frames were imported into Photoshop as layers. The base layer was the frame where the pitcher started his motion. Object select and person select were used with generative remove to eliminate the umpire, first baseman and a sign. Everything but the pitcher was masked out in each frame using select subject then inverting the selection to mask out everything but the pitcher. Individual layers were chosen to make visible over the base frame to allow the various stages of the delivery to be clearly seen. The image was then flattened and brought back into Lightroom where the remove tool was used for final clean up followed by cropping. The pitcher and his family were delighted by the composite and the coach found it beneficial to comment on specific aspects of the pitcher’s delivery.
