This yellow macaw was captured handheld in Zimbabwe using the Sony A7SIII and the 200-600mm lens at 303mm F/6.3. It was late in the day, so I had to raise the ISO to maintain a fast enough shutter speed, yet the image remained clean and sharp. I was impressed by the stability and reach of the 200-600mm, which allowed me to get close to the bird without the bulk or cost of a 600mm prime.
Edited in Capture One with a subtle edit. Later, I revisited the photo in Photoshop and used the new Remove tool to seamlessly eliminate a distracting branch from the background. This would’ve taken much longer with older tools or more advanced skills. It’s a testament to how modern gear and software have made wildlife photography more accessible than ever.
