Bokeh doesn't necessarily need large apertures. You can achieve the same affect by stepping back and using a longer lens. Just focus on a specific subject and the rest of the picture will go out of focus. I used f/11 so I could get the details in the flower which was about 2 inches deep. Using a longer lens length allowed me to achieve the bokeh affect I was looking for while standing farther back from the flower. I was unable to get close up to the flower which is the other reason I had to use a longer lens length.
