This was taken at sunrise in the west desert of Utah. This is a foal from the Onaqui wild horse herd. The little foal laid down in the grass for a rest and the morning light was buttery. This was taken with the Sony 100-400 at f7.1 to capture the foal in focus but leave the surrounding area blurred. The image has been cropped with modest exposure edits on the foal because of some backlight. The biggest challenge for this was finding a moment where there were no other horses in the frame, as the herd sticks close together. Also, capturing the light at a favorable angle to light up the baby's mane.
