During the 'Quema De Toros' festival in Tultepec, I shot a series of photos capturing it's frenetic and often challenging environment of free-flying pyrotechnics.
I shot image of a boy running the crowd and flying rockets, amidst the smoke of discharging fireworks, some of which can be seen in the frame.
With the fire service on hand to douse sporadic fires, I got soaked like many others, my camera and lens included - creating this bokeh.
This was shot entirely using ambient light - often provided by firework blasts, using my Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II lens. Which, after this event needed servicing as it got struck (and severely burnt) countless times by fireworks.
The technical challenges were numerous, the lowlight while needing a very high shutter speed, varying levels of low light and nailing focus in an unforgiving environment. This, in tandem with the practical challenges of being struck by pyrotechnics continuously throughout the night - leaving me also with burns and melted clothing.
