This Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) was photographed while on a Zodiac near Hubbard Glacier, Alaska. The Oystercatcher was on a rock about a mile from the glacier. It was a sunny day but cold due to the proximity to Hubbard Glacier. We very gradually approached the bird, allowing me to capture this image using a Canon R5 with a 100-500mm lens at 500mm, f7.1 1/3200 sec ISO 5000.
